Faraday 2011 Poster presents:

3rd Annual
Faraday's Holiday Event

Michael Faraday began a tradition of giving a lecture for children on Christmas Eve in 1827. He would show the children various experiments that he had been working on during the year at a time when education for young people was scarce. Many of the basic discoveries that Faraday made, make the technologies we use today possible.

StarHouse Discovery Center presented a Faraday-type event on December 29, 2009 at 7:00 pm. Over 80 people came, mostly children and their families. They greatly enjoyed hearing Don Lind speak about some of his experiences as an astronaut, but an even bigger hit was the opportunity to try out some of the electricity experiments for themselves, as well as participate in the hands-on activities brought by local students (both high-school and college) and professionals. We also made it onto the front page of the Herald Journal on Thursday, 31 December 2009. What a way to end the year!

The Second Annual Faraday's Holiday Event was held Tuesday, 28 December 2010 at the Whittier Center 290 North 400 East, Logan, UT beginning at 6:30 pm, with the Keynote Speaker, USU Physics Professor Shane Larson, at 7:00 pm. Once again, it was a success, with a larger crowd than last year, and everyone had fun. A special thanks to Macey's for donating the refreshments.
